Troops
Once you have the green flag, you are ready to begin locating troops. Chances are you already have a soldier for a husband, wife, or child so you have begun! We approached everybody displaying a military cling in their car window or flying military flags outside their homes. Military moms are proud of their children’s service, and appreciative of their recognition.
Two important resources are local schools and the press (See "Press" for a listing of our local contacts.). One of us is a teacher, and sent out a blanket email to the entire school district asking for leads on soldiers. Be bold you have a marvelous cause to promote – ask the high school secretaries and counselors for help. Another district called the superintendent for help. Military recruiters can be helpful, too. Church families, and bulletins are great. Local newspapers are very supportive when asked to write a story about a Wall of Heroes coming to their town.
