Tip:

This is a good time to mention requesting a tax i.d. number from your town or church for purchasing materials. It is well worth the effort, and will save a lot of money.

Sample Letters Requesting Funding

Funding

How are you going to pay for your Wall of Heroes? We started getting photographs so one of us purchased about 40 picture frames, and ordered name plates, and put it all on a charge card!

Our town supervisor suggested writing a proposal for funding to a local bank vice president. We received about $700.00. Another group asked for donations from local merchants. And, another district charged families of soldiers the equivalent of the frame and nameplate. In addition, after our dedication ceremony, we received about $300.00 in unsolicited contributions. Many merchants were willing to give us discounts, and free merchandise (paper goods, beverages for the dedication, etc.)

In addition, our town opened a checking account for us, and an employee handles the finances - do not keep the money in your personal accounts.  Whenever we require reimbursement, we complete a request form and attach the receipt of purchase.
