Keep careful records of everyone’s name, email address, telephone numbers, addresses, rank, title, and branch of the military. This information will be important later for invitations to your dedication ceremony, and other events that occur months later. One town sends a letter to soldier sponsors, and an application form with vital information.

Connecting with troops and families doesn’t always happen as quickly as you want it to. You might even have your first photo by now, and want to frame it and hang it on the “Wall.” Be patient because sometimes you have to be a detective to locate military family members. Again, the school district can help. PTA or PTO directories are excellent resources.
